The Defense Department’s only website for military youth wants to know what kids think about Children and teens, ages 9 to 17, have an opportunity to add their feedback in a national survey being conducted on JBLM and other military installations through Aug. 20.

“After a year and a half and many added features since the initial release, we‘d like to know more about how our military youth are using” said Dr. Kelly Blasko, psychologist at the National Center for Telehealth & Technology and developer of the website. "We’ve already added features from feedback by parents and educators. Now we want to hear from the kids.”

Information about the survey will be at the Hillside Teen Center, the McChord Field Youth Program Center, and the Cascade School Age Center. Danya International is the contractor conducting the survey for the Defense Department.

Participants are asked to:
• Use for one week.
• Complete a 20-minute online survey.
• Have least one parent or caregiver on active duty.
• Get permission from a parent or caregiver to join the survey.

Anyone who would like to participate can call Nalini Berry at 301-960-1674.

Since the website was launch in 2012, it has received five national awards and more than 190,000 visits. One of the most popular features of the website is its moderated forum which lets military youth who are too young for a social media account connect with their friends around the world.

The Defense Department’s National Center for Telehealth & Technology, or T2 as it is commonly known, uses state-of-the-art technology to develop behavioral health resources for the military community. T2, located on JBLM, is a component center of the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury.
